Hello Spiritual Warriors!!! Let’s take a journey into The Hymn of the Universe!

Om, often referred to as the hymn of the universe, is considered the ultimate vibration, because it contains every vibration that has ever existed and every vibration that will ever exist. Just as white light contains all the colors of the spectrum, Om contains every sound in the vibrational spectrum—even those we can’t hear with our ears.

Historically, Om is first mentioned in the 12 verses of the ancient Vedic text the Mandukya Upanishads, which explains the three basic states of consciousness: waking, sleeping, and dreaming. In its original spelling and pronunciation, Aum (pronounced ahh-uhh-mmm) is a blending of those three states of consciousness into the one-ness of three distinct syllables: A, U, and M. These three vibrations also represent the three stages of our known existence: birth, life, and death.

The vibration “A” (pronounced ahh, like the sound you make opening your mouth for the doctor) represents the waking state and the beginning of all things. Just as the letter A is the first letter of most every alphabet—the first letter of the Rig Veda, the Koran, Homer’s Odyssey, even the first word of the New Testament—the vibration A heralds creation . . . the beginning. Vedic sages refer to it as the A-kara, and it represents the realm of form and shape—the physical realm.

The vibration u (pronounced oo) is referred to as the U-kara and represents the dream state, the realm that is devoid of form or shape—the ethereal realms of air, water, fire, dreams—ever-changing aspects of the formless world around us.

The vibration m is known as the Ma-kara, which represents the state of deep sleep . . . neither form or formless like the other two realms but beyond shape or shapelessness . . . the realm of consciousness in hibernation, waiting to unfold.

In Sanskrit grammar, when the letters A and U are combined in writing, they are translated as the letter o. That is why we so often see Om written instead of Aum. Over thousands of years, the writing of Aum has taken a backseat to Om, and that has led to Om being the sound that is most often chanted by both Western students and teachers of yoga, meditation, and Vedanta.

When the three individual vibrations are combined, a fourth vibration is created, like a chord in music made up of individual notes. Aum (pronounced ahhh—uhhh—mmmm) represents the fourth state of consciousness—transcendent consciousness, or turiya . . . what we call enlightenment or one-ness.
The chanting of the mantra Om heralds our universality, which is why we usually chant Om before and/or after meditation and yoga practice, and when we read sacred, ancient texts.

By repeating a vibration or sound over and over, it will become part of your physiology; it will become your mind; it will become you. It will lose all meaning, all definition, and all relevance. There will be no separation between you and the vibration that is resonating right now.

Meditating on Om
We can meditate right now using the mantra Om. Say it out loud and feel the vibration a-u-m as it is birthed, then sustains, and then dies out as you purse your lips. Now let’s whisper it. Om. And now begin repeating it silently to yourself. Om, Om, Om, Om. To practice any type of mantra meditation, close your eyes and silently repeat the mantra over and over. When you notice that you have drifted away from the mantra to thoughts in your mind, sounds in the environment, or sensations in your physical body, gently drift back to the mantra. It will get louder and fainter, faster and slower; it will even become jumbled, distorted, and inaudible. However the mantra changes, simply keep repeating it, and when you notice you’ve drifted away just gently drift back. Back and forth and back and forth again. Gently surrender to the back and forth. Let’s try it for a few moments right now. And in the meantime, I’ll see you in the gap!!! Peace. -davidj

Hello Spiritual Warrior! And welcome to another Life Tool – Mastering Your Emotions.

We live each moment of our life through the ebb and flow of emotions. It’s almost as if each beat of our heart, and every breath we take, move us in one direction or another. The phone rings – a feeling sparks, and a thought pours in; someone says something to us – suddenly our mood shifts and our face follows; we feel the sun on our cheek and the wind in our hair – and as memories awaken, a sensation ripples through us. We are a bundle of conditioned emotions that are primed to respond to the momentary assessment of whether our needs have been met or not.

Simply put emotions are subjective, conscious experiences that link our interpretation of a given moment to a biological reaction creating a particular mental state. Have you ever yelled at someone -after having a tough time or a difficult encounter- over something that had nothing to do with them? Psychologists refer to this mis-direction as “emotional leakage.” When you suppress emotions, you’re likely to express them inadvertently in other avenues by being snide, sarcastic, snarky, retaliatory, biting, harsh, or downright mean to people who had nothing to do with your initial frustration. Suppressing our feelings is now scientifically proven to lead to poor memory, relationship challenges, and deeper health issues as our body is influenced so strongly by our subjective conscious experiences.

We can rise above the constriction by heightening our emotional intelligence, known as EI in many leadership, psychology, and philosophy circles. EI is essentially our ability to “own” these four capabilities:
1. Correctly perceive emotions
2. Retrieve and produce emotions to assist thought
3. Comprehend emotions and understand them, and
4. Effectively adjust emotions to promote personal development and growth

If you don’t know how you feel or why you feel a certain way, you will experience emotional overwhelm or confusion and won’t be able to communicate effectively, meet your needs, or resolve disagreements. But if we master our emotional intelligence, you will flow with less stress, more grace, and greater ease. And, the more successful we are at heightening these core skill sets, the happier and more fulfilled we will be.

The beauty of EI is that it’s not a function of simply being born with a high EQ; emotional intelligence can be learned, developed, and mastered. Although daily intelligence is important to succeeding in life, emotional intelligence is key to achieving your goals. Remember, EI is an awareness of your actions and feelings – and how they affect those around you. It also means that you value others, listen to their wants and needs, and are able to empathize or identify with them on many different levels. In this process, YOU WILL MEET MORE OF YOUR OWN NEEDS!

After teaching more than 200,000 people the secrets of emotional awareness, I began integrating these teachings into all of my workshops and Teacher Trainings. I encourage you to join me at one of my retreats, workshops, or Teacher Trainings & in the meantime, start to meditate with me each week and together we will transcend the emotional turbulence in our lives.

I’ll see you on the gap!! Peace. -davidji

True-Love
“There are two basic motivating forces: fear and love. When we are afraid, we pull back from life. When we are in love, we open to all that life has to offer with passion, excitement, and acceptance. We need to learn to love ourselves first, in all our glory and our imperfections. If we cannot love ourselves, we cannot fully open to our ability to love others or our potential to create. Evolution and all hopes for a better world rest in the fearlessness and open-hearted vision of people who embrace life.” John Lennon

“When you look at where you are right now in your life– ask yourself, “What is my purpose?” Look at your unique abilities… your special talents and see how you can help others using them. Most likely THAT’S your purpose for the time being. Remember, your dharma will continue to evolve throughout your life.” -davidji

Hello Spiritual Warriors! This week we explore the timeless question, “Am I Living My Dharma?”

In many Eastern philosophies, there is a term for purpose in life – known as dharma or dhamma. The word dharma (pronounced dar- mah) comes from the ancient Indian language of Sanskrit and literally means “pillar” — that which upholds. There are hundreds of definitions for this word which is now part of our lexicon thanks to a TV show that aired in the late 90s called Dharma & Greg… but going back a few thousand years, dharma referred to the fundamental laws that govern and sustain the universe. So in a sense when we look for purpose and meaning, we are seeking the pillar that will uphold our life – the foundation from which all actions flow.

According to these ancient teachings, every being on the planet has a unique gift or a special talent that creates his or her path of purpose. This talent of ours allows us to touch others or heal others or help others or serve others. Each year, I offer a discover your dharma workshop for those who want to explore and awaken their purpose with me in the SweetSpot.

Throughout our life, what we think is our purpose or our dharma may change, shift, transform, and evolve. Maybe the vision of what you’re trying to accomplish doesn’t change but the methodology does. For example, maybe you were very athletic as a child and that was a way for you to express your unique God-given talent. But it’s a few years later and you’re not so limber anymore. Maybe now you express that by writing about sports, or by broadcasting, or by sharing your insights, or by coaching, teaching, or practicing yoga. Maybe you are helping others achieve that same level of fulfillment you once experienced. And so the same vision is there but through a different methodology. When you’re doing that one thing that you love to do -the activity that feels so right- that you feel it’s what you were put on earth to do, you’ll know it. Time stands still, you’re filled with joy, filled with happiness, you’re deeply fulfilled, and when you’re expressing that divine gift, the expression of that special talent takes you into the oneness, into bliss.

When you look at where you are right now in your life– ask yourself, “What is my purpose?” Look at your unique abilities… your special talents and see how you can help others using them. Most likely THAT’S your purpose for the time being. Remember, your dharma will continue to evolve throughout your life.

Maybe you thought you were living your purpose but you lost your job or left it for some reason. And now you feel clueless, anxious, or hopeless. That’s because most likely…you are pointing at external forces when the solution rests within. So first you must heal your heart – you must nourish your core needs of love, belongingness, attention, affection, appreciation, and acceptance. Dharma can wait until you are feeling confident and more connected to your inner voice. Whether or not you have the dream job, you still have the tools to center yourself and follow your passion. The answer rarely rests outside. You know the saying, “Happiness is an inside job.” Once you feel more secure emotionally, then your purpose in life will begin to unfold.

In the meantime, keep unfolding your dharma & I’ll see you in the gap! Peace. -davidji

Happy Weekend Warriors!
It’s easy to become overwhelmed in our every day lives, but the best way to move towards clarity is to look in our lives through the lenses of the 5 realms. This process will allow us to gain clarity on our needs and desires, what we’re holding on to that no longer serves us, what we can bring into our lives will that nourish us, and how to confirm our existence with the 5 Realms of Transformation.
See you in the gap.
Peace.-davidji
